Nano-generator body with small energy

Beijing, April 23 — Reporter Wu Weizheng reports: In a major breakthrough for nanotechnology, China's National Nanoscience Center has developed the world's smallest generator — the nano-generator. International experts have hailed this achievement as a significant leap forward in the field of nanoscale energy solutions. The research was conducted by Professor Wang Zhonglin from the School of Engineering at Peking University and Overseas Director of the National Nanoscience Center, along with PhD student Jin Jinhui. Their findings were published in the prestigious journal *Science* on April 14, marking a milestone in nanotechnology innovation. According to experts, the nano-generator holds great potential for applications in biomedicine, defense, wireless communication, and sensor systems. It represents a key step toward creating fully integrated nanosystems. By harvesting various forms of mechanical, vibrational, and fluid energy — such as human movement, muscle contractions, blood flow, sound waves, and even arterial pulsations — the device can convert these into usable electrical energy. This makes it possible for nanodevices and even nano-robots to operate independently, achieving self-sustaining power. This development could revolutionize how small-scale devices are powered, especially in environments where traditional energy sources are not feasible. The ability to generate electricity from everyday movements and natural body functions opens up new possibilities for wearable technology, medical implants, and remote sensing systems. With further advancements, the nano-generator may soon become an essential component in the next generation of smart, energy-efficient nanotechnology.
