Product identification of nuclear island cable tray of Sichuan Instrument Nuclear Power Station

The Chongqing Key Technology Innovation Project, "Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Island Cable Bridge," led by Chongqing Chuanyi Complete Plant, was officially approved by the Chongqing Municipal Economic Commission on June 17, following a review by China National Nuclear Corporation and the Second Design Institute of Nuclear Industry. The project underwent a comprehensive new product appraisal conducted by an expert committee comprising representatives from the Nuclear Safety Center of the State Environmental Protection Administration, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., Nuclear Power Qinshan Joint Venture Company, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute, and Tongji University. The product successfully passed the evaluation, marking a significant milestone in the development of nuclear power equipment by Chongqing Chuanyi. During the appraisal meeting, the expert panel thoroughly reviewed various technical documents, including the product development report, seismic test report, seismic performance calculation and analysis, routine test report, and research documentation. They also conducted an on-site inspection of the production process. The experts concluded that the cable bridge developed by Chongqing Chuanyi features a reasonable structure and reliable design. It utilizes a cold-formed profile structure, offering high strength, good rigidity, precise dimensions, and excellent interchangeability. The hot-dip galvanized coating ensures strong adhesion and effective corrosion protection, making it highly durable. Throughout the development phase, the product successfully passed rigorous tests, including seismic testing at the Shaking Table Laboratory of the State Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Disaster Prevention at Tongji University, as well as 200-hour salt spray and alternating tests conducted by the 18th Metrology Test Center of the Machinery Industry. Additional performance evaluations—such as damp heat testing, adhesion force testing, mechanical load testing, support and hanger load testing, zinc layer continuity testing, and protection circuit continuity testing—confirmed that the product meets the requirements of GB13625-92 and JB/T10216-2000 standards. Its technical performance has reached and exceeded the current industry benchmarks for nuclear island cable trays. The manual for the nuclear power plant nuclear island cable bridge includes a wide range of options, making product selection convenient. The quality assurance program developed during the product's creation was found to be effective, with advanced processes and equipment that are fully tested and capable of supporting mass production. The HAXQJ series cable tray demonstrates excellent seismic resistance and strong anti-corrosion properties, positioning it among the most advanced domestic products in its category. It is now capable of replacing imported alternatives. The expert committee unanimously approved the new product identification. They also recommended that Chongqing Chuanyi further enhance its nuclear culture to meet the diverse needs of different nuclear power plants. Additionally, they advised strengthening quality control across cooperative units to contribute more effectively to the localization of nuclear power equipment. The nuclear island cable bridge is designed to support critical cables within both the nuclear and conventional islands of a nuclear power plant. As a continuous rigid system, it can maintain its protective function under fault conditions caused by earthquakes during safe shutdown, ensuring normal operation. This component plays a vital role in safeguarding the reactor’s safe functioning. Developed jointly with the Second Nuclear Power Plant, the cable tray integrates China’s industrial capabilities, utilizing local steel resources, hot-dip galvanizing technology, machining equipment, and welding techniques. This approach aligns with national nuclear power development strategies, emphasizing the principle of "taking the main, combining Chinese and foreign technologies, introducing advanced methods, and promoting localization." The project has successfully achieved the goal of localizing nuclear power plant cable trays and established design and manufacturing standards for this critical component.
