Beijing, July 7 (Reporter Zhang Yi) — According to the latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on July 7, the top ten automotive companies in China saw significant sales performance in the first half of this year. SAIC topped the list with 621,400 units sold, followed closely by FAW with 562,900 vehicles. Dongfeng came in third with 454,420 units, while Chery and Hafei maintained their positions in the top ten.
Notably, the rankings have shifted compared to the same period in 2005. SAIC reclaimed the number one spot this year, while FAW dropped to second place. Dongfeng, Chang’an, BAIC, and Hafei remained in the same positions as before. However, GAC fell from sixth to eighth, and Chery slipped from sixth to seventh. Geely was notably excluded from the top ten, while Jianghuai Automobile made a surprising entry into the list.
The data also showed strong growth across the board. SAIC recorded a year-on-year increase of 54.85%, while Chery experienced the highest growth at 72.15%. Geely saw a 55.62% rise in sales, and Brilliance grew by 62.11%. Overall, the top ten automakers sold a combined total of 29.549 million vehicles between January and June, accounting for 83.59% of China's total auto sales during that period.
