This is from Larry Shapiro:
On Saturday, October 22, 2016, just before 8 a.m., firefighters from Buffalo Grove were called to #9 Springside Court due to smoke coming from the basement of a single-family home. Police officers arrived on the scene and reported that smoke was visible at the eaves of the house. BG Engine 26 confirmed the presence of smoke and requested an upgrade to a Code 4 working fire.
In addition to the Buffalo Grove units already on duty, Palatine Engine 82, Long Grove Battalion 55, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51, Arlington Heights Engine 4, and Arlington Heights Ambulance 4 also responded. Many of the Buffalo Grove crews were in the middle of changing shifts when they received the call.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the entire house filled with thick smoke. They quickly made their way into the basement and managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread further. The prompt response helped prevent more serious damage to the structure.
