Space narrow-line laser self-made breakthrough made

High-precision optical reference cavity is the key to the development of narrow-line laser and is also one of the key technologies urgently needed to be solved by the scientific application platform of China's space station. Recently, the quantum frequency standard research group headed by Zhang Shougang, director of the National Time Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a breakthrough in the research and development of the autonomous narrow-bandwidth laser. Under the leadership of researcher Liu Tao, the group's narrow-linewidth laser research group, in cooperation with domestic units, has successfully developed the high-precision spherical optical reference cavity used in space environment for the first time in China and fully mastered the advantages of ultra-stable optical reference cavity processing Involved in the ultra-precision optical processing, high reflectivity coating, no glue optical bonding and other key core technologies. The test results show that the spherical ultra-stable reference cavity has a fineness of about 200,000, a cavity reflectivity of 0.9999914 and a cavity loss of less than 5ppm. The relevant indexes are comparable to those of similar foreign products and basically meet the urgent urgent need of scientific application of China's space station. This work was published in the 8th issue of the journal of Physics in 2017. According to the assessment opinion, this study is a very technical and challenging task and has the potential to break the potential embargo in our country. The above research has won the national major scientific research equipment and special equipment development and the National Natural Science Foundation support.
