Carbon secondary post-hydrogenation catalysts for industrial applications

Recently, the LY-C2-02 carbon dioxide post-hydrogenation catalyst developed by the Lanzhou Petrochemical Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals was successfully used in the industrialization of the 240,000 tpa ethylene plant hydrogenation unit of the petrochemical plant of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company.

Lanzhou Chemical Research Center began to carry out technical research on this catalyst since 1997. In May 2003, the improved LY-C2-02 catalyst was introduced into a reactor of the first hydrogenation unit of Lanzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd., and its application effect was recognized. On May 10 last year, the LY-C2-02 catalyst was loaded on the C-bed reactor and the E-bed of the three-stage reactor of the C2 hydrogenation unit of Lanzhou Petrochemical Company. It has now been operating smoothly for six months and its life cycle has exceeded the design value.

The overall application results of Lanzhou Petrochemical over the past four years indicate that LY-C2-02 catalyst has the advantages of good removal of acetylene, increased ethylene production, low reaction temperature, high activity and selectivity, wide operating flexibility range, good catalyst regeneration performance, and stable operation. The overall level is comparable to that of the Southern Chemical Group's G-58C catalyst.

Last July, according to Lanzhou Petrochemical's ethylene production needs, Lanzhou Chemical Research Center provided two-bed LY-C2-02 catalyst. Up to now, Lanzhou Petrochemical has provided 5 beds with a total of 43m3 of LY-C2-02 catalyst.
