2nd Alarm for the explosion in Long Grove 4-25-14

Larry Shapiro sent over these initial images from 4773 Trenton Court within the Royal Melbourne subdivision in Long Grove. Part of this neighborhood falls under the jurisdiction of the Long Grove Fire Protection District, while the remainder is covered by the Countryside Fire Protection District. Late on Friday, before 11 PM, firefighters were dispatched to reports of a fire. Just moments before the catastrophic explosion that would obliterate the house, the homeowner reportedly exited the premises. The massive blast sent debris flying in every direction, completely leveling the structure. Neighboring houses weren’t spared either—several experienced shattered windows, buckled garage doors, or even structural damage. This incident has caused quite a stir in the area, and I’ll keep you updated as more details come to light throughout the day. --- ![Gas Explosion Levels Mansion](#) *A suspected gas explosion leveled this mansion in Long Grove, IL on April 25, 2014. As more information becomes available, I’ll make sure to share it here. It’s devastating for the homeowners and their neighbors, and my thoughts go out to everyone affected.
