Working fire in Glencoe, 1-26-14

Here's a firsthand account from Larry Shapiro:

Last Sunday night, I witnessed a basement fire in Glencoe under the same severe weather conditions that Steve and Dan faced earlier at the 2-11 in Chicago. Fire crews launched an aggressive interior attack and managed to bring the fire under control quickly. The home at 1201 Longmeadow Drive was located on a narrow, dead-end street that overlooked a golf course. Strong winds were blowing from the direction of the course, creating deep snow drifts that made the street feel even more confined.

There wasn’t much to see in terms of structural damage, but the weather really stood out as the most challenging factor here. It was definitely a tough call to make, but I was relieved to get back into my car and head home after a long night.
