It was a bitterly cold day on Friday, December 23rd, 2022, when firefighters from Des Plaines, North Maine, Niles, and Park Ridge responded to a structure fire at 221 Good Avenue. The residence is located just a few blocks away from North Maine Station 1. According to reports, the fire originated in the floor near the back of the house, specifically above a crawl space.
The images below, captured by Larry Shapiro, provide a glimpse into the scene that unfolded that day. The first photo shows firefighters hard at work, battling the flames under challenging conditions. The second image highlights the impressive presence of the fire trucks, which played a crucial role in containing the blaze. Additional photos capture the collaborative effort between multiple departments, including the Des Plaines Fire Department and the North Maine Fire Protection District.
These photos not only document the intensity of the situation but also highlight the dedication and professionalism of the firefighters who risked their lives to protect others during such extreme weather conditions. It’s a powerful reminder of the critical role these emergency responders play in our communities.
Stay safe out there!
