As a manufacturing specialist for high-performance tires, Pirelli has won the favor of world's top car manufacturers such as Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini. In 2005, the completion of Phase 1 of Pirelli's Shandong plant marks its official entry into the Chinese market. Afterwards, Pirelli took a series of active and effective marketing activities and hoped to strengthen its image in the sports field through this sponsorship. At the same time, Pirelli has a long tradition in sports sponsorship. In foreign countries, Pirelli is sponsoring Italian Inter Milan for more than 10 years.

At present, Pirelli has two production lines in China, all located in Luzhou, Shandong, producing truck tires and car tires. There are 23 factories in 12 countries in the world, and the strengthening of the Chinese Luzhou base is a consolidation of Pirelli's global presence. It is reported that this year Pirelli promised to strengthen the localization of the company in the Chinese market, including strengthening its distribution network and actively integrating into various community and social aspects of China. By the end of 2008, Pirelli’s sales network had more than 1,000 sales outlets, of which two-thirds were single-brand stores.
