On the 27th, representatives of environmental journalists from nearly 30 countries and regions in the Asia Pacific region and hundreds of journalists, experts, and scholars from the mainstream media in China gathered in Shenzhen to attend the Asia Pacific Regional Association of Environmental Journalists for the sixteenth time. The congress will jointly discuss how public opinion can promote environmental protection. Pan Yue, the deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration and the honorary chairman of the China Association of Environmental Journalists, stated that public opinion supervision and public participation in the environmental protection field are important supporting forces for environmental protection. Li Hongzhong, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee and Mayor of Shenzhen, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The conference was hosted by the Asia-Pacific Environmental Record Association and was organized by the China Environmental Records Association. It is the largest environmental journalist event in the Asia-Pacific region held for the first time in China. Most of the attendees were senior environmental journalists in the Asia Pacific region. At the grand opening ceremony, the chairman of the Asia Pacific Environmental Journal Association, Gonbullon, the UN Secretary of the Asia-Pacific Minister of Economy, Society and News, and the Norwegian Freskorgset organization officials warmly praised the Chinese government for its great efforts and achievements in environmental protection over the years. The role of environmental journalists in the environmental protection cause is sincerely appreciated. At the same time, it is proposed that the environmental issues facing China are the same as or similar to many countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Environmental journalists in Asia-Pacific countries must work together to promote regional environmental protection and sustainable development. Pan Yue, deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration and the honorary chairman of the China Association of Environmental Journalists, revealed that the State Environmental Protection Administration and the National Bureau of Statistics have established a joint task force on green GDP and are planning to implement pilot projects by the end of this year or early next year. At the same time, it will also study the measure of green GDP, and incorporate environmental protection indicators into the performance evaluation of government officials. This attempt means a profound change in the concept, which means a new development concept and achievement view.
