Gulf oil spill disaster "unprecedented"

U.S. President Barack Obama said in a visit to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in Louisiana on the 2nd that the crude oil spill may cause an unprecedented environmental disaster and the government will do its best to stop the disaster from expanding.
Obama arrived at the Coast Guard Base in Venice, the southernmost tip of Louisiana, to hear reports from relevant officials. After hearing the report, he said that the scope of the impact of the crude oil spill may be an unprecedented environmental disaster. British Petroleum, which has leased out crude oil drilling platforms, is responsible for the disaster and will “pay the bill” for disaster relief operations.
Obama said that the continued leakage of crude oil may seriously damage the economies of the Gulf Coast states, affect the livelihood of thousands of people, and the government will do its best to stop the disaster from expanding. As leakage of crude oil harmed the environment, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States announced earlier on the 2nd that at least in the next 10 days, fishing in the seas contaminated with crude oil should be prohibited.
The Deepwater Horizon drilling rig, which caused crude oil spills, is located approximately 82 kilometers southeast of Louisiana and belongs to the Swiss Transocean Drilling Company, which is leased by BP. This platform exploded on the evening of April 20th and ignited a fire. It sank into the Gulf of Mexico about 36 hours later and 11 staff members died. Oil wells at the bottom of the drilling rig have continued to leak oil since April 24. The Coast Guard estimates that the oil well leaks 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
On the same day, Obama listened to reports from the Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Ginder, the Director of the Environment, Lisa Jackson, and the Coast Guard Commander, Sade Allen. They discussed how to plug oil well leaks, the impact of crude oil leaks on the local economy and the environment. Obama then flew over the Gulf of Mexico to view the scene of the disaster.
