Invested 1.2 Billion Yuan in Bosch Automotive Spark Plug New Plant to Start in Nanjing

Recently, the new plant of Bosch Automotive Components (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan, was started construction in the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is expected that the annual production capacity of 125 million spark plugs will be formed after the start of production in 2013, becoming the largest spark plug in the world of the Bosch Group. Manufacturing base.

Fu Junxi, president of Asia Pacific of Bosch Automotive aftermarket in Germany, said that the completion of the new plant will significantly enhance the production capacity of Bosch Automotive's after-sales business and effectively integrate the layout of relevant product lines in China. In addition to spark plugs, Bosch's new plant in Nanjing will also add two new product lines for brake pads and inspection equipment. In 2013, it will have the capacity to manufacture 80 million brake pads and 25,000 inspection equipments per year. At the same time, a new R&D center will be built in the new factory to promote technology updates. It is expected that the new plant will eventually generate annual sales of 2 billion yuan and employ more than 3,000 employees.

The reporter learned that, in fact, the development of Bosch's after-sales service in Nanjing began in 1996. The predecessor of Bosch Automotive Components (Nanjing) Co., Ltd.—Nanjing Huade Spark Plug Factory is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bosch Group, specializing in the development and production of spark plugs. . In addition to satisfying the needs of domestic auto and motorcycle manufacturers, the company's spark plug products also enter the global market through Bosch's global sales and service network. After the completion of the new factory, the old factory's production operations will all be transferred to the new factory, and the site of the factory will become part of the Nanjing Muyan Scenic Belt.

Fu Haoxi said that in the next 10 years, China will be the world’s largest and fastest growing automotive aftermarket. Therefore, Bosch is determined to take root in the Chinese market and expand production capacity. However, the original site has no room for expansion, so they seized this opportunity to relocate and expand capacity in the eastern part of the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The spark plug capacity of the new plant will be twice that of the old factory.

According to a person from the Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Area, due to its location advantage of being close to China’s largest trade port in China’s Inland River, Xinshengbang Foreign Trade Port and the largest container port in China’s Inland River, Longtan Deepwater Port, a number of automotive vehicles have been introduced in the development zone in recent years. Parts projects have settled in, and now there are nearly 10 technology-leading auto parts projects such as the German ZF steering pump, Sweden's Autolif security system, US Bong automatic transmission, South Korea's Kelon cord fabrics and airbags. The settlement of the new plant of Bosch Automotive Components (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. will further promote the development of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the development zone.
