According to reports, after the engine plant is put into production, the first-phase production capacity will reach an annual output of 250,000 units, mainly producing 1.6 liters, 2.0 liters and 3.0 liters of three kinds of gasoline engines, and will be the first to be used in the existing Mercedes-Benz C-class and E-class sedans. The reporter learned from Beijing Benz that the Beijing Benz engine plant is jointly invested by BAIC Group and German Daimler, and is one of the key projects in the Beijing Benz strategic plan. All three engines are Daimler’s most advanced engines. After the product is put into production, it will play an important role in improving the competitiveness of the Beijing Benz market and reducing the cost and price of the entire vehicle and engine.

At the same time, in addition to the new engine plant project, according to the new strategic cooperation agreement between Beijing Automotive Group and Daimler, Daimler will also establish an R&D center in Beijing and introduce more models to achieve domestic production. From 2012 to 2015, Beijing Benz will implement new domestic models every year, including Mercedes-Benz rear-wheel drive vehicles, front-wheel-drive vehicles, off-road vehicles, and new energy vehicles.

It is understood that Beijing Benz currently has an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. From 2012 to 2015, it plans to increase its annual production capacity by about 100,000 vehicles. In 2015, it will strive to achieve a capacity of 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles.
