I responded to a working fire in the 4th Battalion on Saturday around 2445 hours at 2445 W. 24th Place. It wasn’t a big incident—just a roof fire where we deployed one line and the main attack to the roof. Here are some photos from the scene.
I took a few shots while I was there, and it’s always interesting to see how things unfold during a fire. The American LaFrance LTI tower ladder was definitely a standout piece of equipment, and it looked solid as it worked from above.
There was also some cutting involved, and I snapped a shot of a firefighter using a saw to cut through an overhead door. It’s a common but critical part of the job, especially when access is limited.
The Chicago Fire Department engine was out in full force, and you can see the lead unit pulling up to the scene. It’s always good to see the response in action.
Lastly, I captured some smoke coming from the commercial building. Even though it wasn’t a major blaze, the visibility and intensity of the smoke made for a strong visual.
These images give a quick glimpse into what happened that night. Thanks for checking them out.
