Automobile knowledge engine piston

The engine is like the "heart" of the car, and the piston can be understood as the "center" of the engine. Apart from being in a bad working environment, it is still the busiest one in the engine, constantly moving from the bottom dead center to the top. Dead end, reciprocating motion from top dead center to bottom dead center, suction, compression, workmanship, exhaust... The interior of the piston is designed as a hollow, more like a hat, the two ends of the hole connect the piston The pin, the piston pin connects the small end of the connecting rod, and the big end of the connecting rod is connected with the crankshaft to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into the circular motion of the crankshaft.

There are three wrinkles at the skirt of each piston to install two air rings and an oil ring with the air ring on top. When assembling, the openings of the two air rings need to be staggered to function as a seal. The role of the oil ring is mainly to scrape off excess oil splashed on the cylinder wall and evenly spread the oil. Currently widely used piston ring materials are high-quality gray cast iron, ductile iron, alloy cast iron and so on.

In addition, the piston rings have different surface treatments because of their different locations. The outer surface of the first piston ring is usually chrome plated or molybdenum sprayed, mainly to improve lubrication and increase the wear resistance of the piston rings. Most other piston rings are tin-plated or phosphatized, mainly to improve wear resistance.

Because the working environment of the piston in each cylinder is slightly different, the degree of carbon deposition of the piston is different

If the piston ring is improperly installed or the seal is not good, it will cause the oil on the cylinder wall to smash up to the combustion chamber and mix with the air-fuel mixture, causing burning oil. If the clearance between the piston ring and the cylinder wall is too small or the piston ring is stuck in the ring groove due to carbon deposition, etc., the piston may scratch the cylinder wall when it is reciprocated up and down, and it will be in the cylinder for a long time. A deep groove is formed on the wall, which is often referred to as "pulling cylinder." The cylinder wall has grooves and poor sealing, which will also cause burning oil. Therefore, the working condition of the piston should be checked regularly to avoid the occurrence of the above two conditions and ensure that the engine is in good condition.
