The first vacuum calibration source of the 203 Institute of Astronautics and Astronautics was first commercialized

It is reported that the 203 can provide high emissivity, wide temperature range, continuous adjustable temperature, and high-precision calibration source. And by providing a standard bright temperature, the microwave thermometer, microwave hygrometer, and microwave imager are tested to ensure that the bright temperature data measured by the spaceborne radiometer is accurate and reliable.

In vacuum tanks, we simulate the environment in which satellites operate in space and calibrate the instrument. Sun Xiaoning, the project leader, introduced the concept. When making a vacuum test for the calibration source, it is necessary to ensure temperature stability, make the temperature change not exceed 0.2K/10min, and also ensure that the temperature difference measured by the sensors at seven different locations does not exceed 0.1 degrees Celsius. And make sure the nitrogen cannot leak when the calibration source is maintained at a low temperature.

“203 has successively calibrated the satellites of the ocean and Fengyun series, and the calibration is the key work before launching the satellite-borne microwave payload. The passive spaceborne radiometer must be calibrated before launch. Otherwise, the data will not be able to be applied quantitatively. Sun Xiaoning said so.

The 203 designed calibration source has a wide temperature range, continuously adjustable temperature, accurate calibration source, and a wide range of features, and the performance indicators meet the requirements. First of all, before the test, leak inspection will be carried out, and the low temperature shrinkage will be fully taken into account in the design to prevent the seal ring size from being deviated, so as to prevent the accident. Secondly, since the sensors are removed every year for inspection, and the sensors in previous designs are not easily dismantled, the research team redesigned the structure and designed the sensor part as a separate module so that the sensor can be split only when it is sent for inspection. In part, the other part does not move, saving manpower and time. Again, for the most worried about nitrogen leakage, adopt an integrated design to reduce flange connections and use welding processes where possible to ensure reliability.

In the future, 203 will continue to do well in the development and production of calibration sources, providing users with high-performance calibration sources.
