GoPlant and Allison Transmission Launch New Road Sweeper
GoPlant Ltd. is one of the UK's leading suppliers of operating leasing and self-driving leasing services for special vehicles. Recently, it installed the Allison 3000 Series automatic gearbox on its new 15 road sweepers.
"All of our newer vehicles use the Allison transmission because it reduces the cost of the product throughout its lifecycle and improves the vehicle's powertrain - there is no doubt that the powertrain is susceptible to wear during road cleaning." Aiden Garvey, regional manager of GoPlant, said.
It is understood that this updated vehicle is manufactured by the historic bodybuilder Johnston Sweepers and uses the DAFLF220 chassis supplied by the DAF dealer Greenhous that meets Euro 6 emission standards.
After experiencing the AMT gearbox, GoPlant chose Allison fully automatic gearboxes to reduce powertrain maintenance costs. In the first quarter of 2015 alone, GoPlant ordered 48 new cars, and this order is only part of GoPlant's major investment.

GoPlant’s fleet has more than 300 road sweepers and operates in the UK. It is responsible for cleaning construction sites, road works, factories, and private and public transport terminals. These vehicles often work day and night in the harsh conditions of frequent stop-starts. When the roads are cleared, they travel at an average speed of 3 mph. Even at very low speeds, the Allison Torque Converter provides smooth shifting, and the driver only needs to be ready for braking when necessary, which simplifies operation.
