On Tuesday, November 8th, at 11:12 AM, the Park Ridge Police Department and Fire Department responded to a serious traffic crash at the intersection of Oakton and Cumberland. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2007 Honda sedan had collided with a house located at 901 Oakton Street. The vehicle had two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released details about the victims, pending notification of their families. Fortunately, the home was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Witnesses reported that the Honda was traveling southbound on Cumberland as it approached Oakton. Instead of stopping, the vehicle continued through the intersection and crashed into the house situated on the south side of the road.
The Park Ridge Fire Department received assistance from firefighters in Niles and Des Plaines. The police department is also working with the MCAT Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team to determine the cause of the crash.
