China Nuclear Power Valve Status and Prospect

With the sustained and rapid development of China's national economy, very urgent demands are placed on the Chinese energy industry. At present, from the urgent need of ensuring China’s energy security, optimizing energy structure, and supporting the sustainable development of the national economy, China has formulated policies based on thermal power, vigorously developing hydropower, and appropriately developing new energy sources, such as nuclear power and wind power. . The construction of China's nuclear power is undergoing a trial and compensatory adjustment to strategic and aggressive development. This is an excellent development opportunity for China's nuclear power business, and the huge demand for nuclear power station valves has brought about a broad market prospect for domestic and foreign valve manufacturers.

Nuclear power valve overview

Nuclear power valve refers to the valve used in the nuclear island N1, conventional island CI and auxiliary plant BOP system in nuclear power plants. From the security level is divided into nuclear safety I, II, III, non-nuclear level. Among them, nuclear safety level I requirements are the highest. Nuclear power valves use a large number of medium transmission control devices in nuclear power plants and are an indispensable part of the safe operation of nuclear power plants. According to statistics, a nuclear power plant with two 1 million KW units has 30,000 valves.

At present, there are 447 nuclear power plants in operation worldwide, with a total installed capacity of 380 million KW, accounting for approximately 16.2% of the world's total power generation. The installed capacity of nuclear power plants in 17 countries accounted for more than 25% of their total power generation. France accounted for 77%, South Korea accounted for 38%, Japan accounted for 36%, the United Kingdom accounted for 28%, the United States accounted for 20%. Among the nuclear power plants in operation, more than 50% are pressurized water reactors, followed by heavy water reactors, boiling water reactors, graphite reactors, fast breeder reactors, and high-air-cooled reactors.

The number of valves in nuclear power plants is based on the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station. The nuclear island portion accounts for 43.5%, the conventional island portion accounts for 45%, and the auxiliary facilities account for 11.5%. There are 13,000 types of valves used in the nuclear islands.

According to the valve configuration, the cut-off valve accounted for 33.6%, the diaphragm valve accounted for 26.2%, and the ball valve accounted for 12.8%. These three accounts for 72.6% of the nuclear island valves. According to the distribution of safety grades, only 2.3% of the nuclear I grade, 52% of the nuclear II and III grades, and 45.7% of the non-nuclear grades.

The proportion of investment in nuclear power plants in nuclear power plants accounts for about 1.6% of the construction price of nuclear power plants. Nuclear power valve maintenance and replacement costs account for approximately 50% of the total nuclear power station maintenance. The operating cost of nuclear power includes investment cost, operation and maintenance cost and fuel cost. The investment costs generally accounted for 57% of the operating costs of nuclear power, operating maintenance costs accounted for 29%, and fuel costs accounted for 14%. The overhaul costs (total maintenance) in operating costs account for 10% of the operating costs of nuclear power.
