Chicago Still on 106th Street

Chicago firefighters responded swiftly to a residential fire that broke out today at 309 West 106th Street. Engine 93 was the first unit to arrive on the scene, quickly dealing with flames erupting from the first floor of a two-story wooden structure. The team from Engine 93 managed to get the situation under control in no time. Meanwhile, Truck 27 was also dispatched and played a crucial role in ventilating the roof, ensuring the fire didn’t spread further. Dennis McGuire, Jr., who arrived later, captured some compelling images from the scene. As I scroll through the photos, the first one shows firefighters from Truck 27 positioned on the roof after completing their work on ventilation. The E-ONE 100' rear-mounted ladder they used is a spare truck, known as E-256. In another image, Engine 93, equipped with their 2005 Spartan Crimson engine (D-627), can be seen parked strategically near a hydrant just past the affected building. You can also spot Truck 27 in the background, highlighting the coordinated efforts of these units. The final photo gives a broader view of the area, capturing the teamwork and dedication of Chicago’s finest. It’s always inspiring to see how quickly emergency responders mobilize and handle such situations with precision and care. Dennis McGuire, Jr.’s photos provide an intimate look into the intense yet methodical process of extinguishing the fire. It’s moments like these that remind us of the bravery and professionalism of our local firefighters.
